This is my first attempt on a blog. Why today? Tody is Thanksgiving and its a long weekend. I am not with my family and I am not very busy in my work (may be I am, I have several postdoc deadlines on Dec. 1, but dont I deserve a break on Thanksgiving :)). Now a days (almost) everyone blogs and I think people can share (spread) their thoughts with the interested, like-minded (or even random people who are just surfing randomly and happen to know you or heard of you) people. Earlier I used to wonder that in these busy stressful times, what on earth will be the motivation for people to read other people's thoughts, given that excellent newspapers and websites are out there? But as "everone is different", it is impossible for a few handful of sources to serve such a wide spectum. More importantly, the sense of community and the feeling that someone is out there interested in what you have to say is a tremendous driver. This may be the natural consequence of the human tendency to form groups, especially when the net-life is dominating the real life (its easier to lead a quick, inexpensive, social virtual life compared to a slow, ponderous, lonely real life).
Now I should wrap it up as the routine grind of my real life calls. Lets me see if others read and comment on the blog, as I take one more step in my virtual life. BTW, the thing I like about the virtual life is that if you try hard you can meet your virtual mates in real life (sounds a bit like tales from the Hindu mythology, forgive me for the random analogy :))!
